Trestle Table The Latest Home Trend In Interior Design

The trestle table has been around for years. They were first used in small farm houses and stables. They are simple pedestal tables. They are used in outdoor rooms, casual living rooms, and other spaces.

Tabletops of today are made of oak, or another dark wood. They are held up by carved, ornate beam. Spindle backed chairs often accompany these tables. These smaller sets are usually put in a breakfast nook.

They found favor in day care centers, bedrooms, and nurseries in the eighties. It was common back then to see young girls playing tea party around the table, and playing house.

You can buy these tables where ever you may buy furniture. Most people prefer to buy them custom made. There are a lot of carpenters out there that specialize in these types of tables. They are more often made of cheaper wood though. That is to keep their cost down. That does not take away from the quality of the job done.

Make sure you do a little bit of shopping around before you settle on a craftsman. Study their previous work before you settle on someone. Make a deal with them. Settle on what materials you want to use. Also consult with them about possible accents they can add to the work.

When the work is done, you will hear from the carpenter. They will either require you to pick it up, or offer to deliver to your house. Unless you have worked this out ahead of time, you will get the call once work is done. Most carpenters will not charge for the delivery.

It's important that someone be home on the day of delivery. Inspect the table closely before the driver leaves. Sometimes products like this can get damaged on the trip to your house. Maybe they messed something up. If that is the case, simply have the delivery guy return it. The craftsman normally does not charge for repairs needed during the trip.

Once you have the table in your home, you may wish to do some extra things to it. One of them is to use polyurethane to give the table a shine. Many individuals do this also to protect the surface from scratches.

There are many individuals who do not have the time or money to go through a carpenter or furniture store. They go to other places to look for their special tables. It's surprising to see where you can find tables.

You can find tables of this design at thrift stores, discount centers, and even some garage sales. They are not always going to be in the best condition when they are used though. This is usually not a problem for do it yourself home project people.

No matter where you get your trestle table, you will enjoy the charm it adds to your home. These little tables have come a long way since their advent. They will make your home feel cozy.
