Customers of remote offices, small and medium businesses and enterprise workgroups can count on the media performance of Quantum SDLT-1.  Development of new "laser guided optical servo" mechanism has allowed to introduce optical tracking technology in Quantum SDLT 1 tape technology.  The high performance attributes of magnetic and optical recording technique are combined by the LGMR technology.  Optical servo tracks are written on backside of the tape reel, which frees up the other side of the tape for data storage.  Quantum has leveraged the disk drive technology with help of new PRML (Partial Response Maximum Likelihood) channel, which has resulted in elevated levels of data integrity and efficiency.  PRML channel has also helped to increase the quantity of data tracks.

Super DLT technology has become an industry standard.  Media cartridges of DLT-IV tape format are fully supported by Quantum SDLT320 drives, and efficiently perform read & write operations on SDLT-1 and DLT-4 tapes.  Superior data integrity is ensured with both these backup tapes.  The customers can be assured of efficient data compression and longer working life with an incredible MTBF of 250,000 hours.
