You might find it quite entertaining to see a half ball hemisphere or a half ball lens, but think of the intricacies in making of them. They should be perfect in their shaping and should be balanced. So there goes a lot of technology and skill in deciding the technical details of a shape. You may have seen the spinel ball, a half ball or a cubic zirconia ball that really adds the charm at your table or you may be having one but they all come at a price. If you see the raw sapphire or the ruby the well polished and perfectly shaped ball made of it would be the last thing in your mind. But by the proper tools and apparatuses it is made possible and they shine on your table like the Venus in the dawning sky.

 

And think of a ball, and what it can be made of. The first thing that comes to my mind is mud, the easiest way of shaping it to the form of a ball. But we see there are a lot of flaws. And it is not even the well shaped. But put it in a machine and you have it. But the same is not true with the balls like ceramic balls or others. There you need to pay full attention as every cut is important and every wrong cut can cost thousands of rupees.

 

The glass ball lens or the half ball lens is some other experiments that can be done with these stones. And there are many others to explore. The cubic zirconia ball is one such fine example that shows the class and work together. And as I said in the start, not only balls but these stones are of multipurpose and they can be used for a variety of purposes, given their physical and chemical properties.
