Natural Cures For Sinus Problems

It's getting to be that time of year again when so many people are experiencing "sinus" problems. Myself included.

Another site in the natural cures remedies genre like mine, recently posted comments about the many natural cures that several people have tried and had great success with.

I'd like to share those with you here.

Before we go any further, I want to make it very clear, I do not recommend putting cayenne pepper up your nose as some have suggested in the list! The side effects will far out way the benefits.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR is by far the overwhelming favorite.

Amy writes: "I tried apple cider vinegar just to see. I have sinusitis. I had a sinus surgery a few years ago and am expected to do yet another. The problem with sinus surgeries is that a patient will have to undergo these about every three to five years for relief and what happens when there is no more sinus to remove? Good grief! So I am trying everything to avoid that, and also to avoid taking antibiotics. The last antibiotic prescribed was a fluoroquinolone called Levaquin and it nearly killed me. Those kinds of antibiotics are famous for causing long term to permanent damage body wide and also central nervous symptom problems. It can cause tendinitis, which it did! It's been a roller coaster ride... So I tried this natural remedy today just to see. No word yet on whether it's cured me, but it didn't taste bad, and I also used local honey, because for the sake of allergies, it is best to use local honey."

Sheila writes: "Apple Cider Vinegar & Sinus Infections

I am cured! I've been using the ACV remedy for about 3 or 4 days. Posted initially and didn't realize I was using the wrong ACV. Used organic, unfiltered but didn't know it has to be unpasteurized also until today. I'm going to pick up B----'s to have on hand. Even so, I can't believe how quickly the wrong ACV worked! Over the course of 25 years, I took antibiotics 3-5 times a year. I took OTC anti-inflammatories, sudafed, guaifenesin before and after it went OTC, steroidal nasal sprays, and prescription decongestants. All this time, all I needed was the ACV remedy!

James writes: "Male 41 very good shape. Well that was until Feb, when I picked up a cold. Sinus never really cleared.

Orange juice, on the shelf meds, over the counter meds, ditched any @ all dairy, upped the vitamin intake as well as variety. Throat very slowly but surely got worse. It's now mid May and I'm on my knee's sneezing really thick deep green things that fill a scott towel and thinking of a doctors visit.

Then I found this site. Read a bunch and came a crossed ACV mix's for flushing the sinus. A good friend told me about Apple Cider Vinegar once, and how it helps the body.

Picked up a Neti Pot (under$20) which came with a bunch of pre mixed packets. I just grabbed the Neti Pot and mixed 8oz of warm water with 1 tablespoon of ACV with a big pitch of salt. Poured through nose with no pain until 1/2 hour later. One moller right side went crazy (pain) all the way to the root tip. As well as sneezing while it drained. 2 advil's to reduce pain. Fell asleep for 3 hours.

Made a second batch, 8oz warm water 1 tablespoon of ACV plus another 1/2 tablespoon of ACV for good measure, no salt. Complete flush with no pain during or later. 1 hour later sneezing is only clear fluid.

Moller has totally subsided to normal and I feel great in a 20 hour span from the first flush to right now.

I'm totally impressed and will be passing this on to all.

SALINE RINSE

Kristin K writes: "The CURE for SINUS INFECTIONS: Saline Irrigation with Sea Salt and Warm Water applied directly into sinus cavity.

My story: I had bacterial sinus infections on and off for 4 years and this last winter is the first year I did not have bacterial sinus infections. I saw 3 ENT specialists and have tried everything from antiobiotics through saline irrigation (netti pot) using Hydrogen Peroxide or Apple Cider Vinegar.

The last year I have been finally free of sinus infections by using Sea Salt and warm water only in my irrigation. What I found it its the technique of HOW you use the irrigation; not WHAT you put in the solution. For me the trick was using an irrigation system that got the warm salt water all the way up into my sinuses.

I was using the netti pot while kneeling on the batrhoom floor and holding my head upside down to get the water up into my sinuses. Now I use a water squirting devise (a brand name) that is sold to spray a stream of water to clean teeth.

A friend told me about using a water spraying teeth cleaning machine for sinus irrigation years ago and I finally tried it February of 2010 with excellent results. The technique of daily squirting the warm water directly into my sinuses has what kept me from chronic bacterial sinus infections that I had in the past. I had tried Hydrogen Peroxide, Vinegar, Baking Soda etc all with stinging and irritation. The electric water spraying device has worked the best hands down.

I am writing this because this site helped me so much in trying different ways to treat my bacterial sinus infections. I was very depressed and frustrated because the ENT specialists I saw only wanted to do surgery on me. One told me specifically that I could not clean out the bacteria with sinus irrigation when I asked him about it. I believe that I can clean out bacteria and what the ENT said is not true. The sad thing is that MDs do not make any money off of telling people to do sinus irrigation at home. I just wish I had started doing sinus irrigation years ago!

Carissa writes: "Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic! I have been suffering for a little over two weeks now from cold turned into ugly sinus infection. I work with toddlers and I thought that it would take me forever to feel 100% again, which is very important when working with young, energetic ones! Dreading the money it would cost to visit a Dr. (as I do not have health care) I decided to try something natural first. Thank goodness for this website! I mixed just a little over 1/4 teaspoon of salt, a pinch of baking soda and a tiny cap-full of hydrogen peroxide in 1 cup of warm water. I used a baby ear/nose bulb and rinsed like there was no tomorrow. A whole mess of green/yellow mucus came right out of my nose and continued to after the treatment every time I blew my nose. Immediately after the all of the gunk came out I could breathe again, pressure was gone and I was happy! I am very grateful for this amazing website!"

My first line of treatment recommendation will always be to get and use a Neti Pot. (Use ONLY sea salt- NOT Iodized Salt!)

You can never "over dose" or hurt yourself with this most effective treatment. I recommended one to my friend and he's been using one since, without ever having a sinus infection again. The result has been the same for me and that has been many years now!
