Motorcycle Flames Underlying Candy
Flames flowing along the side of an old hot rod can curtainly be pictured in most peoples minds. The bright red and yellow lighting up like a neon sign. Very nice in its moment in time and still is for those of us who like the "retro" look. A very nice selection in some instances.
A prevalent way of motorcycle flames being done is by painting your design, thencovering it with a transparent color. A typical way to paint like this would be to paint the whole tank silver, then paint the flames in gold. You could the outline the flames in a darker or lighter shade of silver or gold. Then you take the transparent "candy" color and spray several coats over top the whole paint job.
You end up with a tank that is entirely blue, red or whatever color you have chosen. Having a design, but the look is more subtle. One solid color but you can see the design through it. You can have it easily visible or you can spray the "candy" heavier so that you can barely see the design unless it's in the sun or bright light. Toned down even further than the typical candy motorcycle flames.
To have your motorcycle flames painted in "retro" style or in a subtle "candy coated" is clearly a choice of individual preference.
There are new kinds of paint and ways of custom painting that arrise from time to time. Candys, marbles, pearls, chameleon, etc. There is a technique of painting flames that has been out for several years. Some like to call it real fire, true fire or realistic fire. You need to build up several layers but the effect is very much worth it. It really looks very nice. Worth checking into if you are interested in getting your custom motorcycle painted.

A Sea in Flames $12.99 Carl Safina has been hailed as one of the top 100 conservations of the 20th century(Audobon Magazine,) and A Sea in Flames is his blistering account of the months-long manmade disaster that tormented a region and mesmerized the nation. Traveling across the Gulf to make sense of an ever-changing story and its often-nonsensical twists, Safina expertly deconstructs the series of calamitous misjudgments that caused the Deepwater Horizon blowout, zeroes in on BP’s misstatements, evasions, and denials, reassesses his own reaction to the government’s crisis handling, and reviews the consequences of the leak—and what he considers the real problems, which the press largely overlooked. Safina takes us deep inside the faulty thinking that caused the lethal explosion. We join him on aerial surveys across an oil-coated sea. We confront pelicans and other wildlife whose blue universe fades to black. Safina skewers the excuses and the silly jargon—like “junk shot” and “top kill”—that made the tragedy feel like a comedy of horrors—and highlighted Big Oil’s appalling lack of preparedness for an event that was inevitable. Based on extensive research and interviews with fishermen, coastal residents, biologists, and government officials, A Sea In Flames has some surprising answers on whether it was “Obama’s Katrina,” whether the Coast Guard was as inept in its response as BP was misleading, and whether this worst unintended release of oil in history was really America’s worst ecological disaster.                         Impassioned, moving, and even sharply funny, A Sea in Flames is ultimately an indictment of America’s main addiction. Safina writes: “In the end, this is a chronicle of a summer of pain—and hope.  Hope that the full potential of this catastrophe would not materialize, hope that the harm done would heal faster than feared, and hope that even if we didn’t suffer the absolutely worst—we’d still learn the big lesson here. We may have gotten two out of three.  That’s not good enough. Because: there’ll be a next time.”              From the Hardcover edition. |

Fighting the Flames: The Spectacular Performance of Fire at Coney Island $144.29 In Fighting the Flames, Sally contextualizes, historicizes, and theorizes the spectacular performance of fire at turn-of-the-twentieth century Coney Island. The performance of fire included staged exhibits, such as Fire and Flames and Fighting the Flames, and the real fires that plagued its history. While Coney Island placed fire center stage in its fire-based disaster spectacles, fire has continuously burned its own bridge, destroying the producer who wants to make fire the star of his show. The real conflagrations at Coney Island insert precisely what was missing from these staged performances: ephemerality, unpredictability, and newness of the present that serve as metaphors for not only fire but for the development of the metropolis and the advent of modernity. |
