Used Power Steering Pump for Jeep and Subaru
Over the past decade, the popularity of power steering or power assisted steering in vehicles has increased so much that today we hardly find a vehicle without it. In fact, now we have different types of power steerings like speed sensitive, electronic, hydraulic etc. The advent of power steering has certainly reduced the effort involved in driving a vehicle.

A hydraulic power steering system uses the motion from the engine's crankshaft to drive a pump that eases the effort required to turn the wheels of the vehicle. In case of electronic power steering, this function is carried out by an electric motor thus easing the load off the engine and increasing fuel efficiency. In both cases, the power steering pump is the common hardware.
In most cases of power-steering failure, it is usually the pump that encounters problems and is unable to pump the fluid through the system. A power steering failure is easily noticeable since there is increased effort required to maneuver the vehicle.
In case your vehicle is experiencing problems with the power steering, get it serviced by a qualified technician. Power Steering Pump repairs are usually costly and if the damage is more pronounced, it is advisable to replace the pump instead of spending money on repairs.
While purchasing a power-steering pump, be sure to purchase an OEM part to avoid any conflicts with the rest of the power-steering system. It is advisable not to use spurious rebuilt parts and aftermarket parts as replacement since they void the vehicle's warranty.
If you are worried about the cost of brand new power-steering pumps, then you can always go for a used pump. These are OEM pumps that have been used before probably in a vehicle of same make and model as yours and are up for sale now. Used pumps are cost effective while good enough to do the job. You can also get some great deals on used pumps and other used auto parts online. Be sure to buy only from reputed used auto parts stores.
