If you've just bought your first home and haven't had to deal with a lot of tools around your apartment, one of the things you'll want for your first well stocked tool box is a basic socket set. Even if you have never been one to do a lot of 'do it yourself projects ' a new home will give you ample opportunity to learn how to do small little task that come up. A basic socket wrench set will save you a lot of money over time rather than spending a lot on a number of adjustable wrenches and dozens of drivers. You will soon see the advantages of having one in your tool box along with your screw drivers, hammers, and pliers.
The most common nut you will find around the house is the six sided hex nut. It is everywhere: when assembling furniture, shelving, cribs, strollers, and most everything that comes with assembly required. Having a socket set handy and in your tool box will save you a lot time and effort, and take the headache out of most assembly jobs. The six sided hex nut comes in a variety of sizes. They can be small, medium, large, extra large, and in small increments in between. You'll need a socket wrench set to cover the whole gambit of sizes of nuts you will run into.
The best way to start is with the basic 40 piece hex socket set. These come with a variety of socket sizes measured in both inches (SAE) and metric millimeters and fit most of the common nuts you'll encounter. They come with ratchet wrench handles that you snap the socket to, and will have a button or a knob that you use to change direction so you can go clockwise putting nuts on, and counter clock wise to remove nuts. The handle allows you to keep your nut in the socket and on the screw or bolt. It has an effortless cranking action in either direction. This is particularly useful when you are in tight spaces. The handle can have ratcheting action in either direction you are going, clockwise or counter clockwise, and has a release mechanism that allows you an easy pumping action whether you are putting on or taking off nuts.
Socket sets are not hard to understand or use and are more helpful than having a large number of wrenches or nut drivers of varying sizes in your Socket sets are not hard to understand or use and are more helpful than having a large number of wrenches or nut drivers of varying sizes in your tool box. You will soon see their advantage. It won't take long until you are eyeballing a nut and find the exact fit you want in the socket set. You don't need to be especially muscular to tighten and remove nuts or bolts with these, and you will soon find yourself grateful that you have them in your home.

Induced Metric $100.37 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In mathematics and theoretical physics, the induced metric is the metric tensor defined on a submanifold which is calculated from the metric tensor on a larger manifold into which the submanifold is embedded. In the mathematical field of differential geometry, a metric tensor is a type of function defined on a manifold (such as a surface in space) which takes as input a pair of tangent vectors v and w and produces a real number (scalar) g(v, w) in a way that generalizes many of the familiar properties of the dot product of vectors in Euclidean space. In the same way as a dot product, metric tensors are used to define the length of, and angle between, tangent vectors Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. LevyProkhorov Metric $58.94 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In mathematics, the LevyProkhorov metric (sometimes known just as the Prokhorov metric) is a metric (i.e., a definition of distance) on the collection of probability measures on a given metric space. It is named after the French mathematician Paul Pierre Levy and the Soviet mathematician Yuri Vasilevich Prokhorov; Prokhorov introduced it in 1956 as a generalization of the earlier Levy metric. Some authors omit one of the two inequalities or choose only open or closed A; either inequality implies the other, but restricting to open/closed sets changes the metric so defined. Hutchinson Metric $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In mathematics, the Hutchinson metric is a function which measures the discrepancy between two images for use in fractal image processing and can also be applied to describe the similarity between DNA sequences expressed as real or complex genomic signals. The metric space which most closely corresponds to our intuitive understanding of space is the 3dimensional Euclidean space. In fact, the notion of metric is a generalization of the Euclidean metric arising from the four longknown properties of the Euclidean distance. The Euclidean metric defines the distance between two points as the length of the straight line connecting them. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Generalised Metric $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In mathematics, the concept of a generalised metric is a generalisation of that of a metric, in which the distance is not a real number but taken from an arbitrary ordered field. In general, when we define metric space the distance function is taken to be a realvalued function. The real numbers form an ordered field which is Archimedean and order complete. So, the metric spaces have some nice properties like: in a metric space compactness, sequential compactness and countable compactness are equivalent etc etc. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. The Ambient Metric $47.32 This book develops and applies a theory of the ambient metric in conformal geometry. This is a Lorentz metric in "n"+"2" dimensions that encodes a conformal class of metrics in "n" dimensions. The ambient metric has an alternate incarnation as the Poincar metric, a metric in "n"+"1" dimensions having the conformal manifold as its conformal infinity. In this realization, the construction has played a central role in the AdS/CFT correspondence in physics. The existence and uniqueness of the ambient metric at the formal power series level is treated in detail. This includes the derivation of the ambient obstruction tensor and an explicit analysis of the special cases of conformally flat and conformally Einstein spaces. Poincar metrics are introduced and shown to be equivalent to the ambient formulation. Self-dual Poincar metrics in four dimensions are considered as a special case, leading to a formal power series proof of LeBrun's collar neighborhood theorem proved originally using twistor methods. Conformal curvature tensors are introduced and their fundamental properties are established. A jet isomorphism theorem is established for conformal geometry, resulting in a representation of the space of jets of conformal structures at a point in terms of conformal curvature tensors. The book concludes with a construction and characterization of scalar conformal invariants in terms of ambient curvature, applying results in parabolic invariant theory. |

Levy Metric $79.66 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In mathematics, the Levy metric is a metric on the space of cumulative distribution functions of onedimensional random variables. It is a special case of the LevyProkhorov metric, and is named after the French mathematician Paul Pierre Levy. In probability theory and statistics, the cumulative distribution function (CDF), or just distribution function, completely describes the probability distribution of a realvalued random variable X. Cumulative distribution functions are also used to specify the distribution of multivariate random variables. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F.
