Why Car Buyer websites cannot give you a good price for your Mini

Today, selling your car online is the easiest way to sell your car however some owners should be careful of the valuations given to them online. Usually only owners of prestige cars need haggle with car buyers to get the market value for their car but Mini drivers should also scrutinize any offers.

Online car valuation websites often generate a value for your car based on some very basic information available to them from your registration number and vehicle data supplied to them by companies such as CAP and Glasses guide. Often the resulting valuations do not take into account any options or packs that where installed when the car rolled off the assembly line and for Mini owners this can lead to some very low offers for the car.

 

Packs installed by the manufacturer are usually 'invisible' to a car valuation website and can be worth hundreds of pounds when it comes to reselling the car. For example the Chili Pack for the Mini Cooper S costs over £1,800 and the Mini Clubman's Media Pack costs over £2,000 when buying the car new.

The car only need have the Chili pack with a few optional extras and your basic Mini costing £17,640 new can send the price of the car over £22,740, almost 30% more than the basic model!

 

Obviously if the options installed in your car are not taken into account when deciding on an amount to offer for your car then it could be hundreds, potentially thousands, lower than it should be. So when the time comes to sell your Mini keep in mind that many websites on the internet, through no fault of their own, may offer you far less for your car than it is worth.
