The circular cap is just a drill bit of a different shape which is kept in place by a pilot bit. An arbor is then used to attach the circular blade to the drill. This ensures that the cutter does not slide out of place and is safe to use when cutting through surfaces. Inexperienced DIY enthusiasts may accidentally use the saw without either the arbor or pilot bit which is inadvisable. Using the saw without these safety elements is likely to lead to serious injury.

A metal hole saw is the ideal tool for drilling into doorknobs to install locks and is capable of cutting through even the most durable metal. This type of saw is an instrument that can be used creatively in the right hands but could cause damage to property and the person holding it if used incorrectly.
