A strut bar is a simple elegant device which links the suspensions of two wheels of the car so that the car does not go beyond a point when it rocks and rolls during a high speed ride. The suspension, since it cannot deviate as much as it used to becomes stiffer and a displacement on side of the car will affect the other side of the car as well. That extra safety can easily be the difference between a safe ride and an accident.

The strut bar though is typically used in conjunction with another suspension feature which is a MacPherson strut. This suspension combines a shock absorber and a spring in a single strut tower. This allows each wheel to have an independent suspension. This makes for a more comfortable ride but in a high performance car it may allow too much flex, which is reduced with the help of a strut bar.
