The Price $3.95 Boston District Attorney Will Sullivan dreams of becoming the next great governor of Massachusetts. He has a beautiful wife, Joanna, an adorable daughter, Sydney, and a name that the citizens of Massachusetts respect. But Will's plans are shattered the night Joanna discovers a malignant tumor growing in Sydney's stomach. At that devastating moment, both parents resolve to do "anything" to save their daughter's life. But in the twilight world of Briarwood Medical Center, nothing is as it seems. Patients on the brink of death are not only surviving, but thriving, while others are withering away. The more time Will spends in the labyrinthine hospital, the more he fears he's losing his grip on reality. When a mysterious, charismatic counselor appears and starts talking to Joanna, she grows more and more distant, until she hardly resembles the woman that Will married. Yet suddenly, miraculously, Sydney is improving. As winter closes in around the hospital and his dark suspicions build, Will must gather the strength to confront the evil at hand before he loses his family, his political aspirations, his sanity, and possibly his life. |

Lift $4.99 Written as a letter to her children, Kelly Corrigan's Lift is a tender, intimate, and robust portrait of risk and love; a touchstone for anyone who wants to live more fully. In Lift, Corrigan weaves together three true and unforgettable stories of adults willing to experience emotional hazards in exchange for the gratifications of raising children. Lift takes its name from hang gliding, a pursuit that requires flying directly into rough air, because turbulence saves a glider from "sinking out." For Corrigan, this wisdom - that to fly requires chaotic, sometimes even violent passages - becomes a metaphor for all of life's most meaningful endeavors, particularly the great flight that is parenting. Corrigan serves it up straight - how mundanely and fiercely her children have been loved, how close most lives occasionally come to disaster, and how often we fall short as mothers and fathers. Lift is for everyone who has been caught off guard by the pace and vulnerability of raising children, to remind us that our work is important and our time limited. |

The Bribe of Great Price $13.95 "In this masterful book, Bart Pierce exposes the greatest scandal in history. He chronicles the radical plot of supernatural forces to silence the voices of truth. Over two millennia ago, a Roman soldier and The Bribe of Great Price spawned the greatest cover up in history. The Bribe quietly survived the rise and fall of dictators, parliaments, Kingdoms, Empires and Nations. In a postmodern era, it openly employs the sciences, political systems, religion and mass media. Due to an elaborate deception, even the Church has aided in this conspiracy. This book is definitely a pageturner for every believer, seeker and conspiracy theorist alike. It is an unforgettable journey" |

No Price Too Great $24.37 In often raw emotional terms, No Price Too Great tells the story of a Chinese business woman and an American lawyer who met and fell in love while they still lived in separate worlds. The book presents the difficulties, the hopes, the dreams, the fears, and the sometimes crushing and overpowering feelings that were experienced when trying to bring three people from two totally different cultures into one family. This book deals openly and candidly with how differences in age and race and culture between two lovers both before and after they became husband and wife impacted their lives. It also shows the prejudice that exists in surprising places and in surprising ways, even within the same race. The daily chronicle of events after this family was finally together in America is heartwarming and refreshing. It is also true, and because it is told in first person just as it was written when the events happened, it is hard to put the book down. Ultimately this book tells the story of a love that would not be denied The story of an American man, a Chinese woman, and a Chinese girl whose bond became so strong that nothing could keep them from becoming a family. Within this beautiful love story is the compelling and touching story about a teenage Chinese girl who had never known a father. It tells how she came to love and accept a round eyed man who lived on another continent as her own father, and how he in turn came to love her as his own daughter. It also tells how in the end it was their devotion to each other and to the woman they both loved that helped overcome the most difficult obstacle they faced before they could finally fulfill their lifelong dream of having a warm and lovingfamily. Comments by Readers The author expected that the book would appeal more to female readers, and he received rave reviews from them, even from Chinese women, such as: "It is so sad ... . It is so happy ... I must to print pages again. My tears make ink run. I can not see words." But the comments from male readers were shocking to the author. Here are some comments from male readers: "This book will make you laugh and it will make you cry. You will experience sadness and loneliness, happiness and despair. If you are not crying as you read the closing chapters in this book, then you have no emotion." "Ok, I have printed and read the final chapters more than 5 times today. Thank goodness my fiancee] was at school lest she see tears streaming down my face each time I read them." "I want to say it's just your eloquent writing -- but something else is at work here. Your writing is superb." |

Price Hill $17.28 Early settlers first called this area Boldface Hill, for a Native American chieftain, but the name was soon changed to Priceas Hill, named after Rees Price and his family, who were among the first city dwellers to see the residential potential of the area. Reesas father, Evan Price, speculated in land west of the city, and his son opened a brickyard and sawmill to serve the building boom. In 1874, Reesas sons John and William built an inclined plane to make the commute up the hill easier. With improved transportation, the communityas population soared, mostly because the air was cleaner up on the hill than it was downtown. Strong community roots were quickly seeded and have since grown. Schools such as Seton, Elder, and Western Hills each have a large number of supportive alumni. Catholic and Protestant churches were built, as well as two synagogues. Businesses were started, and two libraries grew with the population. Residents were active in politics, social clubs, and civic associations. The first Skyline Chili opened here and was named for the stunning view of Cincinnati this hill offers. Other local favorites are Price Hill Chili and the Crowas Nest. Through more than 200 photographs and illustrations, readers can see for themselves the roots of this great community. |
