Rikhiram: Musical Instruments Manufacturing Company
Indian musical instruments can be generally classified into three categories, mainly classical, western and folk. Every country has its own kinds of music and musical instruments that are unique to its culture.
In present day modern and classical singers forever use traditionally designed instruments for old songs. The craftsmen who make these instruments are also different, having inherited the art from their ancestors. However, there are also newer manufacturers of musical instruments who make them for commercial sale. Most of them sell the instruments directly or through dealers, online shop and music stores. The main categories of musical instruments are strings instruments, keyboard instruments, woodwinds instruments, and brasses instruments, and percussion instruments.
The instruments are further sub-classified into the type based on the science behind the same.
Veena: Veena is a plucked stringed instrument used mostly in classical music. There are several variations of the veena, which in its South Indian form is a member of the lute family. There are three major types of veena popular today in Hindustani music, The Saraswati veena is an Indian plucked string instrument. It is named after the Hindu goddess Saraswati, who is usually depicted holding or playing the instrument. The others include is vichitra veena and rudra veena and also rudra and vichitra veenas are used in Hindustani music.
Sitar: The sitar is one of the most popular instruments in Hindustani music instruments. In modern times sitar is the most famous Indian instrument in world wide due to Pandit Ravi Shankar. He is a leading Indian instrumentalist of the modern era.
Harmonium: The harmonium was invented in Paris in 1842 and harmonium is a free-standing keyboard instrument similar to a reed organ. It has remained popular to the present day, and the harmonium remains an important instrument in many genres of Indian music. It is generally found in Indian homes.
Tambura: Tanpuras come in different sizes and pitches: bigger males and smaller females for vocalists and yet a smaller version that is used for accompanying sitar or sarod, called tamburi or tanpuri.
Tabla: The tabla is a popular Indian percussion instrument used in the classical, popular and religious music of the Indian subcontinent and in Hindustani classical music. The instrument consists of a pair of hand drums of contrasting sizes and timbres.

Thing Knowledge: A Philosophy of Scientific Instruments $63.91 Western philosophers have traditionally concentrated on theory as the means for expressing knowledge about a variety of phenomena. This absorbing book challenges this fundamental notion by showing how objects themselves, specifically scientific instruments, can express knowledge. As he considers numerous intriguing examples, Davis Baird gives us the tools to "read" the material products of science and technology and to understand their place in culture. Making a provocative and original challenge to our conception of knowledge itself, "Thing Knowledge "demands that we take a new look at theories of science and technology, knowledge, progress, and change. Baird considers a wide range of instruments, including Faraday's first electric motor, eighteenth-century mechanical models of the solar system, the cyclotron, various instruments developed by analytical chemists between 1930 and 1960, spectrometers, and more. |

Forensic Uses of Clinical Assessment Instruments $88.92 The purpose of this book is to provide a firm basis for psychologists to understand the appropriate uses and limitations of popular clinical assessment measures as they are applied to forensic issues. The instruments were selected because of their wide use and importance in both clinical and forensic settings. The PCL-R, the PAI, and MCMI-II, for example, are typically used with adults in criminal evaluations; the MMPI-A is often used in evaluating adolescents in detention and correctional facilities; while the "Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL)" (Achenbach, 1991), "Personality Inventory for Children--Second Edition (PIC-2)" (Lachar & Gruber, 2001), and "Parenting Stress Index (PSI)" (Abidin, 1995) are more commonly used in evaluating families involved in child protection and custody cases. Instruments such as the MMPI-2, the Rorschach, and the Halstead-Reitan Neuropsychological Battery are widely used across many types of forensic evaluations, although the latter category of testing is particularly related to personal injury evaluations. The end result is a unique and indispensable reference: a comprehensive overview, within a single text, of prominent clinical assessment instruments widely used for forensic purposes and designed to facilitate the optimal use of clinical assessment instruments among psychologists who have undertaken the training necessary to understand and apply psychological principles and test findings to salient legal standards or issues. |

Environmental Policy in Search of New Instruments $396.7 Environmental policy is undergoing a dramatic transformation. The problems connected with global change, the need for preventative action, and the growing importance of nonsource pollution call for new courses of action and new institutional arrangements. In this situation, it is fairly obvious that both the traditional command and control policy instruments and the more modern financial and economic instruments are increasingly under stress. This volume deliberately aims to break new ground in providing the conceptual tools necessary for the next generation of environmental policies. In doing so, it covers a wide interdisciplinary range, from public policy analysis to international law, and draws upon much international experience, well reflected by the mixed composition of the contributors. On the basis of a shared theoretical framework, the book explores the potential of new policy instruments, such as policy evaluation or mediation, proposes alternative institutional arrangements for dealing with the issues, classifies existing instruments, and illuminates the process through which old and new tools can be set into operation. Dave Smith Instruments Tempest $1999 The Tempest by Dave Smith Instruments combines authentic analog and digital synthesis with an intuitive interface, 16 velocity/pressure-sensitive pads, and a powerful sequencer. It's an instrument clearly meant to extend the capabilities and expand the imaginative reach of beat-oriented musicians everywhere. Each of the 6 analog voices has 2 analog oscillators plus 2 digital oscillators (with a large bank of included samples), Dave's classic analog low-pass filter with audio-rate modulation, an additional high-pass filter, analog VCA with feedback, 5 envelopes, 2 LFOs, an extraordinary variety of analog modulation routings, and stunning sonic quality, warmth and punch. Although optimized for drum sounds, it excels at tuned sounds as well, and even doubles as a 6-voice analog synth. In addition to the 6 direct voice outputs, there are stereo mix outputs and phones outputs, plus 2 inputs for foot switches or expression pedals, MIDI in/out and USB.The performance-oriented operating system, 90 panel controls, and bright 256 x 64 OLED display work together to provide a tightly integrated, non-stop workflow: record a drumbeat in real-time, switch to another drumbeat and use the lit pads to record it using step programming, switch to another drumbeat and record tuned keyboard parts, use the 2 touch controllers to to record real-time note or beat-wide parameter animations, use the generous sound controls to edit any of the drum sounds, tweak the analog effects or drum mix, arrange beats in real time and record the live arrangement into a song, enter/exit Song mode and much more, all without ever stopping play.16 pressure- and velocity-sensitive lit pads are arranged in a 2x8 configuration, providing intuitive access to all your fingers and providing the ideal compromise between the popular 4x4 pad arrangement (popular for real time programming ) and 1x16 arrangement (popular for step programming) because Tempest does both. The pads can be used to play 32 drum sounds (2 banks), mute/unmute the 32 sounds on playback, play and arrange 16 beats in real time, play one sound at 16 tunings (in a variety of scales) or 16 velocities, or as 16 time steps for step programming. The ROLL button permits creating drum rolls or repeated groove patterns by varying pad pressure as the beat records, and doubles as a momemtary "stutter" effect when the pads are assigned to play beats. Use the Sustain button on tuned parts like a keyboard's Sustain pedal, or to choke drum sounds or drumbeats when the pad is released. Two pressure- and position-sensitive Note FX slide controllers permit real-time recording of note or beat-wide sound parameter changes into the drumbeat as you play. For example, record simultaneous filter frequency, tuning, envelope decay and pan changes for each note, or control similar parameters affecting the entire beat.A variety of unique effects are provided while maintaining a pure analog signal path: 1) Stereo analog compressor and distortion circuits af |

Vienna Instruments Orchestral Strings 1 $545 The Vienna Symphonic Library Orchestral Strings 1 collection includes a 14-player violin ensemble as well as a 10-player viola ensemble. The string sections of the Vienna Instruments offer an extremely wide range of articulations. The special qualities of these virtual instruments are the result of a multitude of performances. With larger ensembles, the random effect of articulations like performance trills or fast legatos is especially pronounced, lending those performance patches remarkable authenticity in conjunction with the new performance algorithms in the Vienna virtual instruments. The larger the ensemble, the more intense the random effect; the natural "inexactitude" among the musicians when changing from one tone to the next. This effect gets extra attention with the "Repetition Performance Pizzicatos" --an innovation only available with the large string ensembles and recorded in 2 different tempos. Many requests for additional samples were fulfilled, including the short staccatos, the expressive Interval Legatos, espressivo con sordino, as well as extensions of the tonal ranges for sustains and staccatos. The virtual violin section was the largest ensemble recorded at Vienna's Silent Stage. The 14 violinists are headed by Christian Eisenberger, who in his esteemed international concert work has collaborated with artists and conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Martha Argerich, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Herbert von Karajan, Gidon Kremer, Kent Nagano, Roger Norrington, Murray Perahia, Andras Schiff, Georg Solti, and many others. The ensemble of 10 violas is headed by Anett Homoki who is a member of the Vienna Chamber Philharmony as well as of the Volksoper Vienna.ArticulationsPerformances:Interval Performances: legato, portamento, staccato, tremoloFast Interval Performances: legato, marcato, spiccatoPerformance TrillsInterval Performances muted (con sordino): normal, portamentoViolins: Interval Performance Glissandos on the same stringRepetition Performances: legato, bow vibrato, portato, staccato, spiccato, harsh, upbeats, pizzicatoRepetition Performances muted: sustains, legato, portato, staccatoRuns: legato, spiccato; major, minor, chromatic, whole toneSingle notes:Short notes: short staccato, staccato, short dtach, long dtach, 4 variations eachLong notes: sustains with and without vibrato, espressivo, flautandoDynamics: various crescendos & diminuendos, with and without vibrato, fp, sfz, sffz, pfpTremolos: sustains, crescendo & diminuendoTrills: half tone, whole tone, minor, major 3rd, accelerandoPizzicatos and Bartk pizzicatos (loose and tight)Col legnoCon sordino: staccato, dtach, sustained, crescendos & diminuendos, fortepiano, sforzato, tremolo, pizzicato, trillsSul ponticello: staccato, sustains, crescendos & diminuendos, sfz, tremoloArtificial harmonics: staccato, sustains |

Vienna Instruments Harps $199 The Vienna Symphonic Library Harps sound collection offers 2 harps played by renowned musicians and beautifully sampled. The first virtual harp is played by Ruth Rojahn, harpist of the Hofer Symphoniker and internationally successful soloist. Apart from single notes in various playing styles the first harp offers an enormous wealth of glissandos that are particularly brilliant and easy to use. The controller structure allows for extremely flexible and quick access--you can switch between ranges, different tempos, up and down movements, and different scales in real-time while playing. Now the virtual instrument software lets you access all Dimensions at the same time. The first harp's spectrum is rounded out by a wide range of arpeggios which were not available until now. The second virtual harp, played by Julia Reth, contains an even larger number of single notes, also offering playing styles like damped, fingernail playing, and pedal glissandos. A lovely ethereal effect is created by the bisbigliando variations, the whispering of tender tremolos on 2 strings playing the same note.ArticulationsSustained notes:Normal, secco, prs-de-la-table, fingernail playing, secco, harmonics, bisbigliando, pedal glissandosGlissandos:Major and harmonic minor full-scaleMelodic minor, diminished, pentatonicWhole tone scaleSlow, medium, fastOne, 3, and 5 octaves, single and multiple cross glissandosFast fortissimo glissandos spanning one octaveArpeggios:Major, minor, diminished, augmented3 and 4 notesSlow, medium, fast |

Carrots, Sticks, and Sermons: Policy Instruments and Their Evaluation $37.04 Research on policy strategies, instruments, and styles incorporates a complex variety of theoretical and conceptual approaches and analytical tools. Carrots, Sticks, and Sermons proposes an overarching framework for the field, one that clearly shows how public policy instruments may be classified, packaged, and chosen, while highlighting the role evaluation plays in which instruments are used. The book offers a comprehensive analysis of categories and typologies of policy instruments. It categorizes these as sticks, carrots, and sermons--or, more specifically, regulation, economic means, and information. It also offers readers a comparative perspective on evaluation practice in foreign contexts, with special attention paid to the examples of Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, England, Canada, the United States, and the Republic of Korea. As such, this volume crosses language barriers that stand in the way of dispersing research results among the international community of theoreticians and practitioners. As nations become increasingly interdependent, implementation and evaluation of policy choices made by different nations will become issues of increasing gravity. Carrots, Sticks, and Sermons will be of wide interest to those in the fields of public policy, particularly policy design, policy implementation, policy evaluation, comparative politics, and economics. |

Hedging Energy Risks with Derivative Instruments in Oil Trading $51.9 The nancial crisis has proven how volatile markets can become within a very shor t period of time. One commodity that went through peaks and troughs is without doubt oil. A wide range of companies with business activities relying on the commodity and stable pricing, also went through highs and lows, whilst some went into liquidation. This circumstance let many companies think carefully about their risk exposure and how they effectively can manage it. This paper shows that: The main exercise to mitigate risk is a well-structured risk management operation which deliver the fundamentals for an effective usage of derivative instruments. Prior to any securing activity with swaps or options, companies must pin-point their current risk position, portfolios and their values. On this, the classical portfolio theory with the various modern extensions and portfolio analysis tools deliver a good concept for this question, however, oil has cer tain characteristics which companies need to take into consideration. Furthermore, the portfolio theory may not helping to mitigate risk that is driven by economic factors, hence, spreading risk in an essential part, but some risks can only be addressed other means. All variables may be used to derive, the hedging strategy, time horizon and trading instrument. Especially for the instruments, the paper shows a wide range of commonly used instruments and how they can be applied for distinct oil risk issues. |
