Though at first glance, digital multimeters look very complicated with their displays, dials, and port panels, yet when you become familiar with its workings it becomes very handy.

How Digital Multimeter Dials Work?
The dials of digital multimeters can be arranged according to the individual requirements of the user. If you wish to measure in ohms, or in amps, or in volt etc. all you have to do is set the dial to your preferred option and you can use it accordingly. This is exactly the reason why most of the electricians use these instruments in their operations. And the best part is the LCD feature in this instrument, where you can get the exact measurement, as and whenever required. The readings on the digital multimeter are so exact and precise that you can even get decimal values. This feature is called resolution, the better you know how to set it, the better results you can get.

How to Set Digital Multimeter for Various Purpose?
As has been mentioned earlier, digital multimeters can measure almost everything. If you are using these to test voltage then you can set the dial to V_ for AC voltage or V for DC voltage. Again in order to check current, the digital multimeters with clamp head accessories are great. And the best part of using these is that you can take readings without even opening the circuit. Just like measuring voltage, current can be measured both in AC and DC by setting the dial in A_ and A respectively. It is to be noted that if you are measuring current less than 1A, then only digital multimeters are used, otherwise they are used with a clamp. Similar is the case with testing resistance, frequency and continuity.

Use digital multimeters for optimal results and you would want to use it again and again. They are as efficient as Infrared Thermometers, and Digital Pressure Gauge.
