High Effiency Top Load Washer Buying Guide

Consumer demand for front load washers has been drastically increasing due to the additional capacities, energy efficiency, and improved clothes care these machines offer.  As with any newer technology, the growth in this category has not come without disappointed customers.  Some of the complaints include too much bending to access the wash and dry tubs and foul odors developing in the washer.

Efficiency in these machines is every bit as good as front load washers.  High efficiency machines uses up to 70% less water and 68% less energy.  Whirlpool claims that their line of Cabrio washing machines saves up to 28 gallons of water per load!  Add this to the 68% less energy usage and Whirlpool suggests that an average home can save up to $900 over a 10 year life span in utility costs – enough to nearly pay for the Cabrio washer dryer pair!  This is achieved by earning the highest level of energy efficiency from the Consortium for Energy Efficiency – Tier III!

High-efficiency top load washers use superior cleaning systems as well.  These systems provide better cleaning results and less wear and tear on clothing.  For example, Whirlpool's Direct Inject Cleaning System showers the loads with a concentrated solution of water and detergent that eliminates the need to pre-treat stains and their 6th Sense Technology measures the load weight and size and automatically calculates the optimal wash action to achieve the best cleaning results.

In conclusion, there are many manufactures of high efficiency top load washers including Whirlpool Cabrio, Maytag Bravos, LG, GE, and Fisher Paykel.  Many of these machines can be purchased at lower than ever price points and can make a real difference in peoples' lives by saving time, money, water, and energy.
