So what are portable restrooms, and how do they differ from ordinary restrooms?

A portable restroom is essentially an outhouse, modernized and made portable; it will be made of plastic, may come in many colors, and is used to provide temporary toilet facilities for a variety of events. Some newer models include toilet paper or, occasionally, antibacterial hand gel dispensers. Latest trends in portable toilet design is having it completed with portable handwasher. Portable handwashing stations include a water dispenser that is operated by a foot pump, which keeps things hygienic while users wash their hands. Soap and towels may be provided.

The ease of moving portable toilets provides major benefits despite their increased cost over standard fixed outdoor toilets. They are routinely drained, cleaned, disinfected and deodorized to ensure cleanliness for renting customers. They don't clog up, because they're not plumbed. A portable toilet will fit in the back of most pick-up trucks for easy transportation. One of these portable restrooms will work for 10 people for one work week before it needs to be emptied.

Portable restrooms have the drawback of being unstable when they're not on flat ground. It is also possible and sometimes done, that people shake portable toilets in order to shock the person in the cabin.
