One of the most exciting improvements in the automotive industry was the addition of the OBD (On Board Diagnostics). It is the computer that activates the vehicle's "CHECK ENGINE" light. OBD1 (OBD I) was designed to monitor manufacture-specific systems on cars from 1981 to 1995.
