Do You Realize The Powerful Dollar Store Sales End Caps Can Generate?

The way many entrepreneurs who are just starting a dollar store see it is all that is needed is to fill all of the shelves with merchandise and they are off to success.  If only it were that easy.  Today’s marketplace requires more than just buy and watch as everything sells.  To be competitive you must also understand what dollar store merchandise to carry.  You must also understand where to leverage for the greatest sales numbers.  You must be a good merchandiser who knows how to maximize the sales performance achieved from every square foot of the sales space in your store.  In this article I will examine the dollar store sales power of end caps and how to capture that power for your store.

It all starts with the dollar store merchandise you select to place on your end caps.  For many this precious space is used as a catchall and last resort for dollar store merchandise that is selling slowly or not at all.  If you are opening a dollar store don’t make the same mistake.  While it is fine to use a limited number of your end caps to sell down on purchasing mistake merchandise, that is not where they can most impact your store sales.

You are missing the real value of end caps and the high sales possibilities by pursuing the liquidation approach.  When you are starting a dollar store use them to generate higher dollar store sales for your store.   Fill end caps with special purchases you have made.  Fill them with hot sellers and impulse merchandise.  Do everything possible to maximize the sales achieved from the end caps in your store.

Be sure to use attention grabbing signs on your end cap displays.  There are merely a few seconds to capture the attention of passers-by and properly selected signs can really contribute to your success.  Bright colors, letters and numbers that are easily read, and adding no unneeded words to signs all help.

Be sure to include some items with brightly colored packaging.  Dull, neutral colors or displays with no packaging are much more difficult to sell.  While some items will sell, these tend to be the lower sales volume end caps for most who are starting a dollar store.  Select items that are prepackaged, brightly colored, and have large easily seen lettering.

Your goal is to catch the attention of every passer-by.  However to make dollar store sales you must stock your end caps with popular, high quality dollar store merchandise that represent great values.
