The Importance of Interior and Exterior Painting

A house is the place we call "home".  It is the place we come to relax after a long day at work. It is the place where we spend most of our time with our loved ones, a place where we start and grow our family and share beautiful memories with them.  No matter who you are or where you are from, a house is very special and important investment and lies close to the heart.  To make the home look beautiful and make it a representation of ourselves, we as homeowners work hard on the interior as well as the exterior of the house in our best effort to create the best ambiance and most relaxing environment. When we think about painting our house, it can get confusing as to whether we should paint the interior or exterior of our house.

Most of us are living in a house that we plan on owning for many, many years to come and over time, the exterior of the house can become dull and colorless due to: Heat, Rain, Cold, Pollution and other hazardous weather-related conditions.  Rain and cold weather can cause the paint on the exterior of your house to start peeling and bubbling. Excessive heat can cause the paint to bubble and crack and bright sunlight causes paint to dull and lose its sheen. Dirt, dust, and pollution can also cause the house to loses its attractiveness and become "colorless". Thus, it is necessary to take care of the exterior painting of your home from time to time. It is also very important to do the exterior painting before the previous paint has become too damaged, as it will be more cost effective in the long run.

The same goes with the interior painting. Although interior paint is far more durable than exterior paint, (as it is typically not affected by weather-related damage) if we do not maintain it, eventually it will become dull and colorless. There are still many conditions that can affect the interior paint of your home. Dust, dirt, excessive sunlight, and water damage can ruin the paint on your walls and ceilings.

For the painter, exterior painting requires much more work than interior painting. In most cases, homeowners will hire a professional painter to handle the exterior painting of their homes, but in many cases will try and tackle the interior painting themselves.
