Practice on the Driving Range to Fix Your Golf Swing Slice
If you have a golf swing slice, you'll obviously wish to stop slicing. The slice is the most aggravating golf swing fault and something that numerous starter golf players suffer from. One way to mend your slice would be to find the problem and then get in a few driving range practice sessions to experiment with several set-ups.
Why Does the Ball Slice to the Right?
Typically, a slice is caused by an open clubface at impact. When the golf ball is struck with an open club-face, the golf ball will acquire a clock-wise spin when it departs the clubface. This will cause the golf ball to take off to the left and then curve considerably to the right.
First thing to undertake is to find out why you are slicing the ball. After that you can make alterations and experiment by doing some driving range practice sessions. The course isn't the place to fix your slice; you will need to take your time with each adjustment and that's why driving range practice is the perfect way for doing this.
The Way to Find the Cause of Your Slice
There are some reasons why you might be slicing the ball. The first solution is how you grip the club, the next is the way you set up to the ball, and then the last is within your golf swing. To learn How to Fix a Slice you must first know where to look for the fault.
The Grip: It is the easiest place to begin with because it is reasonably uncomplicated to find the problem of a slice with the technique that you grip the club. When resting the club in your left hand, it is best to aim to have a neutral grip angle. There are 3 different grip strengths, and again, it is best to endeavor to get a neutral strength grip. Just remember that where the left hand is positioned, the right hand emulates it.
The Set-up: With a normal set up, you have to be square to your target; your feet, hips, and shoulders should all be aligned parallel to the target. Your clubface must be square and aligned to the target and one's body lined up to a target just left from the target. For short irons and wedges, it is common to assume a rather open stance along with a shortened back-swing.
An effective set-up should support your body in a balanced way at set up and in the course of the golf swing. So, take into account the basics; stand with your feet a little wider than shoulder width apart, slightly flexed knees, lean over from the hips and never from the waist, shoulders opened up and back, chin up, and backbone elongated and straight but never rigid.
The Golf Swing: There are many components to the golf swing and many things that can go wrong and cause a slice. A faster club head speed gives you more distance and it will also lessen the amount of slice passed onto the ball. You need to work on your swing tempo to help you stop slicing also. A smooth and fluid golf swing from backswing to follow-through, without any jerking motion or forcefulness, will create straighter shots.
The Practice Range
As you are doing your driving range practice to cure your slice, you need to keep in mind some things. As you are making adjustments with your grip, your set up, or some technique in the swing, one should do it with minor alterations at a time. For instance, rotate your hands barely an inch or two and practice hitting a number of golf balls.
The proper swing sequence is a huge subject and beyond the scope of this article. But when you begin with these basic ideas to cure your slice and get in some quality driving range practice time, you might find out what exactly is producing your slice and be able to cure it. If you want to learn How to Golf Better, it follows that curing your slice will be a top priority.
