Furniture coasters vs. furniture dolly

Moving homes can be very stressful and most people opt for hiring a home moving company to do it for them. They will have all of the equipments ready and a team of workers to get the job done; the only down side is that you have to spend a hefty sum of cash for the service that they provide. The alternative is to do it yourself; invite a few friends round, rent the transportation or find someone that owns a van and you'll have it done within the day for a fraction of the cost. To make the job less physically draining you will need to invest in a set of furniture dolly trolleys to move some of the larger items in your home, such as the refrigerator or dining table.

There are several forms of furniture dolly currently available at most hardware stores or home depots. Some come with handles and special rubber surfaces to grip any item, while others have pull ropes and adjustable platforms to shift awkwardly shaped pieces of furniture. The most commonly used dolly is made from a square or rectangular board resting on 4 wheels; this can be used to move all sorts of furniture both large and small. Though it has been used effectively for many years, the downside becomes apparent in homes with extra thick-carpeted floors, the small swivel coaster wheels have a hard time rolling over that surface.

In an attempt to fix this issue a new type of furniture dolly has been designed called the ‘EZ Slider' or ‘Sliderz', which is the same device, but branded under a different name. This new contraption is very light weight and made from a special material that easily sides over tiles, vinyl, and carpeted floors, they look like snow ski's and come in pairs. One side is made from a rubber material that grips hold of the furniture, while the other side is made from an extra slick material, which slides along the floor. To use these furniture dollies, slide one under each side of the furniture and either push or use the included attachable handles to pull the item, you'll be surprised at how easily heavy objects will move with little pressure.  

Unfortunately the downside to using this new furniture dolly is that it is limited to certain surfaces such as carpet or tile, so they can only be used inside the house. The benefits to using "Sliderz" are a cheaper price range, lightweight and they are very simple to use. They haven't yet taken over from the wheeled furniture dolly as the most commonly used home moving tool, but they are definitely useful for moving large objects within the home.  

In conclusion both the wheeled furniture dolly and its rival the EZ Slider device will make your house moving experience easier and quicker. Perhaps a good idea would be to invest a little money in both of these furniture dollies, using the EZ Slider to move large items to just inside the door and transfer to the wheeled dolly to move the furniture to the moving truck.
