This set is ideal for soldering must be soldered to the electronics or a car or computer. To regulate the heat 40Watt for iron, but more than 400 watts of block distribution. I recommend the purchase of additional tips of different sizes for the project, what ever it may be demanding. Sponges on page handy for cleaning the tip of the iron and the handle is in a safe place. I used solder balls on the back of my Tahoe cluster blown GM decided to replace the UN-replaceable. I used it to remove the chips and solder the resistors, which was eliminated on the motherboard. A good set!

Very good for Computer or Automotive Projects
This solder set is perfect for you'll need to solder electronics whether it be for car or computer. It has adjusting heat, up to 40watts on the iron itself but up to over 400 watts from the distribution block. I would recommend buying extra tips with different sizes for what ever project you may be needing it for. The sponge on the side comes in handy for cleaning the tips and the holder for the iron is secure in place. I used mine to solder bulbs on the back of my tahoe cluster to replace the blown ones that GM decided to make un-replaceable. Also i used it to remove and solder chips and resistors that had busted on a motherboard. Good set!!

I use this for my radio controlled cars. Works very well. Delevers quick heat to small parts without heat damage. Fits nicely on my workbench. Been wanting a Weller for a long time. I feel this was a very good buy.

Fantastic soldering iron
I had done the research and weller is by far one of the best companies for soldering products. My Dad owned a weller gun and I needed something with less power. The unit was actually smaller than I imagined, but its not the size that matters. The handle is really comfortable and very good for precise work. I like the separate plug for the iron incase you walk away, it won't be hot. The biggest reason I purchased this iron is the adjustment knob. Turn it to 5 to warm up fast, then readjust. For PCB work, I leave it at 4-4.5. Soldering is quick and fast. The supplied flat head tip is great for most work. This is probably the best pencil iron i've owned. It does everything you need without all the bells and whistles, for an affordable price.

This is a great soldering station for the money. Gets hot fairly quickly, and I really like the adjustable heat feature, but wish they used temperature ranges instead of just hash marks for the different heat levels. I also really like fact that you have all the ST series tips to choose from, and that they're fairly inexpensive. For a hobbiest this is the perfect station.

This is a great product, Weller makes the best soldering stations, I use it all the time and have no complaints about its quality. I always wanted a solder station with a temp control for the iron and although this is hobby grade its works Great for the price. I do recommend buying a assortment of soldering tips for it, the one it comes with is rather large for intricate soldering but good for melting stuff together when needed.

I've tried a battery-powered soldering iron (Weller)... cost about $17 at Lowes. Junk. Heats up fast, sure, but doesn't maintain that temperature at all.
Tried a few cheap-o soldering irons from Radioshack, Wal-Mart, etc. Junk. Same as above... don't retain heat. Plus it doesn't have a stand lol.
This one finally did the job... and did it terrifically in fact! Heats up very quickly... and soldered anything I threw at it with ease. Absolutely love it... the tip it comes with is quite nice too. I'd like to pick up a variety of tips as this one is a little big, but should do fine for most of the soldering I'll be doing.

Got this for my b-day, and I love it. It has a sponge built in to the set that works well. It will heat up wires fast enough to solder in about 3-5 seconds on high. The button lights up when turned on. The thing can heat up to soldering temperatures in 30-45 seconds from being cold in a 20 degree F garage. Although, for some reason the screwdriver tip that came with mine was malformed and had some kind of fiber melted into it that must have happened during the manufacturing process. I just clipped it off, but buy different kinds of tips for this thing. (not the one in the "buy these 3 items together" thing, apparently it does not work.) If you are soldering sensitive semiconductors, buy copper alligator clips to use as heatsinks to protect the things you are soldering. this gets a 9/10.

This thing is great. The temperature adjustment is consistent. The overall feel is pretty good. I would recommend some 63/37 solder and a finer tip for all around soldering. It's been reliable and durable for months now.
