A cigar holder is something designed to hold the cigar out of an ashtray while the smoker is busy with something else. This prevents the extinguishing of the cigar, but allows the smoker to continue enjoyment after a moment. Some cigar holders are very fancy and expensive and others look just like a clip with a round holder the right size to hold most cigars. The clip can be attached to a golf bag or another place to spare the cigar.

Many women have joined men in the experience of enjoying a cigar. Husbands and wives smoke together frequently, enjoying the evening air and good conversation. Still being a stigma for women not many will admit they enjoy this pastime. It has long been considered sexy for a woman to smoke a cigar, and many a husband or boyfriend wishes his girl would join him.

A different type of holder for cigars is one that is sold to fit the head of the cigar, and has a mouthpiece that prevents the cigar itself from touching the smoker's lips. This kind of cigar holder is more popular with women smokers but occasionally a man uses these as well.

These are sold in a variety of prices, some being thousands of dollars, either hand carved from ivory or encrusted with precious gems. Others are simply utilitarian and cost less than $10. While they prevent tobacco from getting in the smoker's mouth, many use them solely for the comfort of the smoke.

Smoking cigars is a bit of an indulgent art, but quite a bit more popular for men and women than most people realize. Many cigar smokers spend a great deal of money on humidors, cutters, lighters, ashtrays, and the cigars themselves. A cigar holder would make a great gift idea for the cigar smoker in your life, for that may be an accessory that they do not already have.
