Although most wheel bearings don't require replacement until they reach a certain miles, there are still many cars on the road whose wheel bearings do require regular service and replacement. Generally, the wheel bearings on most new vehicles are sealed and do not require any maintenance. But if the wheel bearing is bad, it may result in the whining, squealing or grinding noises. In addition, you can often feel the looseness or roughness if you raise the suspension and rotate the wheel by hand. Therefore, the proper maintenance is rather important. It may ensure the vehicle a longer life span. In case of destroying the metal of the wheel bearing, you may have to find a good lubricant, take a look at the back of the can and make sure that they are made of proper oils which are not harmful to the wheel bearings.

Since we have learned little knowledge of wheel bearings, let's move to wheel hub bearing which is also very important. It can be called hub assemblies, too. Customers can choose either the wheel bearings or the hub assemblies according to their needs. Hub assembly is an entire, enclosed hub unit containing one or two bearings. These units are fairly easily replaced. Although others have an open, not sealed hub, in this kind of hubs, you can easily take the bad bearings (and sometimes races) and replace them with new bearings. Besides, if hub assemblies are bad, only the bearings need to be replaced, not the entire hub. Using these hub bearings can reduce some unnecessary trouble.
