Are you considering letting your child do some youth weight training but are worried they are to young? When is the right age for kids to begin weight training? This article will discuss that.

Youth weight training has been found to be good for children because it increases bone density, improves muscular coordination, and increases strength. I am not saying that kids that are 9 years old should be lifting weights, but children that are of the appropriate age should be weight training.

What is the right age to be starting though? This has been a question that has been debated over for years. I would say the appropriate age for kids to begin weight training is when the begin to produce testosterone which is a big part of building muscle. This begins around the age of 14-17 years old. So when your child is in junior high or high school is about when they should be lifting weights. .
