Air Cooled and Water Cooled

Industrial Chillers have been proven to be very important equipments for thermal care.   We all know the importance of these when it comes to proper air circulation and cooling.

Now, Industrial chillers can be either air cooled or water cooled.

Air Cooled Chillers - These units are generally used in applications where extra heat released is not much of a factor.  The heat released is cooled by the condenser with ambient air.  They are considered to be lesser energy capable than the water cooled ones however they are reasonably inexpensive to maintain and are much cost effective because they don't need additional equipment.  These chillers are the most commonly used in industries and other businesses.

Water Cooled Chillers - When the heat released by an air cooled chiller creates an issue or a problem, these chillers are used.  With these chillers, as opposed to air cooled chillers, the heat released is cooled by the condenser with water by the use cooling towers.  Maintaining the cooling towers can be very expensive. Although they are not that cost effective, they are very helpful in the decrease of energy consumption and are less noisy.  This system has become a widely used substitute for air cooled chillers.

 

Whether you're planning to use water cooled or air cooled chillers, always bear in mind that there is no such thing as "air cooled is better" or "water cooled is better". Air cooled can be smaller but noisy while Water cooled can be quiet but huge.  It really depends on how-where-what-when you need it for and your overall system cost budget.    If you are on a tight budget though, a lot of people recommend purchasing used chillers.  They are inexpensive and majority, given that it's from a reliable company and with proper chiller maintenance, can still serve its purpose.
